Program Overview

Building on the success of our long-standing Urdu ʿĀlim Course, Jamia Suffah offers a Full-Time ʿĀlim Course in English for students who wish to develop a strong foundation in the Islamic sciences. This immersive program combines traditional Islamic scholarship with a thoughtful, structured, and student-centered approach to education.

The goal is not only to produce students of knowledge, but well-rounded Muslims who can serve their families, communities, and the Ummah with sincerity, wisdom, and sound understanding.

What Students Study

Students progress through a comprehensive curriculum covering the major Islamic sciences and the tools needed to understand classical texts.

Arabic Language

Students study Arabic grammar, morphology, vocabulary, reading, translation, and classical text comprehension.

Qur’an & Tafsīr

Students develop Qur’anic understanding through recitation, translation, tafsīr, and the study of Qur’anic sciences.

Ḥadīth & Sunnah

Students study selected collections, ḥadīth terminology, commentary, and eventually the major works of ḥadīth.

Fiqh & Uṣūl

Students study Ḥanafī fiqh, legal principles, worship, family law, transactions, inheritance, and contemporary issues.

ʿAqīdah & Theology

Students study Sunni creed, core beliefs, classical theology, and responses to modern doubts and challenges.

Adab, Research & Service

Students are trained in discipline, public speaking, research, teaching, personal growth, and service to the community.

Beyond Classroom Learning

Our curriculum goes beyond classroom instruction. Students are nurtured in Islamic adab, personal discipline, spiritual growth, responsibility, and love for the Qur’an and Sunnah.

The daily schedule is carefully structured to include classroom lessons, guided revision, preparation time, and mentorship. This balanced approach helps students absorb what they learn, strengthen their understanding, and build consistent study habits.

Optional Academic Schooling Track

Families may choose to combine the ʿĀlim Course with continued academic schooling through American K12. This option allows eligible students to continue their academic studies while pursuing the full-time seminary curriculum.
